Grandpa's 1946 Ford and Jim's 1954 Chevy

Jim and Kim have a number of old pickup trucks, most of them in varying states of restoration. The story about their 1954 Chevrolet is posted online. Read all about it here.

Their 1963 Chevrolet 3/4 ton has a highlight online too. Click here to see the family workhorse. Here it is helping Jim build a retaining wall at the house.

The good folks at the Burleigh County landfill know Jim on sight. He uses the '63 to clean up his rural property. They always remind him to "leave it running," since they've had to jump the '63 a few times - mostly in the rain!

Jim and Kim's newest truck project is a 1959 Ford, which Jim recently moved off his uncle, Les Friez', family farm near Mott, ND/Lemmon, SD where it worked hard as a farm-crafted crop sprayer from 1974 to about 1990.

Jim's father-in-law, Rex McDowall, is an avid Ford enthusiast, who is currently rebuilding a 1959 Ford Skyliner. He's also the primary troubleshooter for the Long family garage.

Kim wrote an article about how she, her mom, and her sister found the Skyliner in Dayton, Ohio for her Dad. Then, she wrote about how she and her sister drove her dad, fresh out of sinus surgery, to Ohio and back to pick up the car in a a marathon 32 hour trip. Click here to read the story. The story was later published in the national Skyliner club magazine last year.

Father-in-law, Rex, is also currently rebuilding a 1951 Willys pickup. In addition, he hot-rodded the 1946 Ford Pickup formerly owned by Kim's Grandpa Louis Tokach of St. Anthony, ND. Look for it in all it's yellow glory at a church near you, since that is Rex's Sunday goin' to church truck!

The horses enjoy good times in the summer, and

need lots of extra food and care in the winter!

The horses are popular with neighborhood kids and small relatives, who never miss a chance to ride.

Here is one of Jim's least proud moments. The Marine sharpshooter let his scope hit him between the eyes. He says the buck was SO BIG he just got carried away.

Nobody believes him.
